Fill the Wagon - November 4th through November 19th

The Franconia District Station is hosting a Food Drive campaign called "Fill the Wagon", which will run from today, November 4th through November 19th.  The police wagon will be parked at local grocery stores with officers accepting donations (see attachment for locations and times).  Citizens can also drop off non-perishable food items in the lobby of our police station (6121 Franconia Road) anytime within the program dates.

Last year, the Franconia District Station Food Drive received and donated:

  • Over 6,000 pounds of non-perishable food to four local food banks
  • $1,100 which was received in cash from citizens - used to make purchases at Costco of needed items
  • 2,000 diapers (purchased)
  • $170 in gift cards - which were donated by citizens.

Our station is excited about helping to replenish the shelves of our local food banks.  These organizations have been met with a drastic reduction in food reserves due to the sluggish economy, and we can help.  If you live close or pass by our station and would like to help us make a difference this holiday season, please feel free to drop your food items off - and stop in to say Hi!

There is also a media release for our food drive on our Franconia Station website.

Please feel free to forward this email to individuals or business leaders who you feel will help us support this effort.
